Accommodation and other student support services
The Social Services of the University of Coimbra (SASUC) provide accommodation at economic prices in university residences located in the three university campuses, nearby the Faculties, Research Centres and other study facilities. The residences are furnished and equipped; there is weekly laundry service of bed clothing and bathroom towels.
SASUC provides three residences for undergraduate and integrated master international students, admitted within the framework of the special call for international students. Monthly prices include all expenses with water, electricity, gas, internet, TV, weekly laundry service of bed clothing and bathroom towels, utilisation of equipped kitchen with micro-waves, fridge, stove, range hood, utilisation of washing and drying machine, iron and ironing board, and access to study room.
Outside the
UC residences, there are several lodging offers for students, for
instance the
possibility of renting apartments with or without furniture and equipped
kitchen, bedrooms in family houses or private residences. If you choose
one of these options but feel unsure about the offered conditions, you
may consider to book a hostel or hotel for a couple of days and make
your rent contract only after checking the facilities and conditions for
yourself in loco.
Please note that you're responsible for booking your own accommodation in either case.
SASUC provide further student support services such as:
- Meals: UC has 14 university canteens, bars, snacks and buffets, with take away service, which offer a wide variety of food: Portuguese and Mediterranean food, pizzas and pastas, vegetarian dishes and different sandwiches. Meals at university canteens are 2,40 euros each meal. In the snacks and buffets, the prices are around 4 to 11 euros depending on the choice of the dishes.
- Medical care: UC has its own medical services that provide general practice examinations and speciality examinations that cost around 5 to 10 euros according to the required type of examination.
- Laundry and sewing services.
- Child care at university nurseries and kindergartens for the children of students and university personnel.
